STAUNTON-Mrs. Ida Florence Swortzel Nutty, died Tuesday at 5:25 p.m. at her residence , 301 Grubert Ave.
A native of Augusta County, she was born April 21, 1881, a daughter of the late Lynn and Magdelene Hildebrand Swortzel. She was a member of Arbor Hill church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her husband, John W. Nutty; one son, Fay Nutty, Staunton; two daughters, Mrs. Elwood Furr and Miss Edith Nutty, both of Staunton; one brother, Fred S. Swortzel, Waynesboro; two sisters, Miss Nealie Swortzel, Waynesboro, and Mrs. L. L. Via, Madrid; nine grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A son, Sgt. Robert L. Nutty, lost his life in action in the European Theater of Operations, May 10, 1944.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren by the Rev. J. C. Garber. Interment will be in the Hildebrand Mennonite Church Cemetery, near Madrid.
Active pallbearers will be Carl Nutty, Hallie Nutty, Ira Spitler, Grover Vest, J. P. Wagner and Ray Kimble.
Honorary bearers will be Walter Swortzel, Ray Swortzel, Howard Swortzel, Mitchell Robinson, Paul Furr, Roy Via, Carl Via, Harry Nutty, Raymond Harris Sr., Bill Nutty, and Keezle Wolfe.
The body will remain at the Fred Henry Funeral Home, Staunton, until 12:30 p.m. Thursday when it will be placed in the church.
