Heaven gained an angel on Friday, 5 April 2019, as Cleone went home to be embraced by her loving parents (Leo I. and Myrth Byington), brother (Brad C. Byington), family, and friends waiting for her calling on earth to be complete. Cleone had and will always have unconditional love for her family, children, and husband Owen, who lovingly and tirelessly took care of her in her final months in their home. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final hours here on earth.

Cleone is survived by her husband of 54 years, Owen H. Auger, sisters Gail Byington Moosman (Reed) and Bonnie Byington Coombs (Ken), and children Janene Auger, Kathryn Sjaastad (Steven), Jeffrey O. Auger, and Kari L. Fraser (Joseph). Her four grandchildren were the light of her life: S. Andrew Sjaastad, Tyler M. Sjaastad, Trenton J. Fraser, and Camryn A. Sjaastad.

Cleone was born on 25 April 1944 in Pocatello, Bannock Co., Idaho. She grew up in Preston, Idaho, and graduated from Preston High School in 1962. Thereafter she attended one year at the Church College of Hawaii (Laie, Oahu) and one year at LDS Business College (Salt Lake City, Utah).

On 12 August 1964, she married Owen H. Auger in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Logan, Cache Co., Utah).

In 1965, she and Owen moved to Portland, Oregon, where they’ve resided since, and developed many deep, long-term friendships that Cleone cherished.

Cleone actively served in her ward, spending 18 years in the Young Women organization and serving other stints in the Relief Society as secretary. One of her favorite church callings was as a ward librarian because she was able to greet many people each week and provide supportive service to them.

Cleone was famous for her brownies, Toll House chocolate chip cookies, and fudge. She loved the Oregon coast and took her family there as often as possible. She enjoyed laughing and spending time with her sisters. She was uncommonly kind and generous and helped wherever and whenever needed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 13 April 2019, 11AM at the chapel on 3722 NE Going St., Portland, Oregon. A reception will take place in Preston, Franklin Co., Idaho, on April 17th, 11AM–1PM at the chapel at 155 N 2nd W. Interment will follow at Preston Cemetery.
