After the brutal murder of her mother, Olive Olivia Curtis Coombs in Cedar City, Utah in 1862, her sisters were placed in the homes of local Mormon families. Helen traveled to Utah to reunite with her sisters and take them back to her home in Napa, California. The Utah courts however, denied her request.
Helen is buried in the "Old Cemetery", 522 El Mira Road, Vacaville, Solano, CA.
