Chaney's first name is often misspelled in various records as "Chancy" or "Chauncy". Both his first and middle names are family names in the ALLDREDGE line.

He was the 15 year old son of Martha "Mollie" Jane JOHN and William E. ALLDREDGE. His cause of death is not given in burial records.

Pleasant Run cemetery has also been known as Mullen and Summit cemeteries. It is small, somewhat off the beaten path, and many of the stones are damaged or fallen. Chaney's stone has fallen but was propped up for this photo by a kind Findagrave.com volunteer.

In 1883 his parents, William E. and Martha Jane ALLDREDGE, migrated to Oregon City, OR by way of a wagon train led by Captain A.F. SURFUS. The first wagons departed from Valonia, Decatur county, KS but the Alldredges joined them en route after starting out from Iowa and crossing down through Nebraska. William, Martha, Chaney's six known siblings, and over 16 other Alldredges are buried in Mountain View cemetery, 500 Hilda St., Oregon City, Clackamas Co., OR.
