MARTHA ELLEN GREGORY, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018. Born Sept. 27, 1925, in Wabash, Ind., she was the daughter of Floyd and Mildred Dyson. She was a previous resident of Calimesa, Calif., and Etowah, Tenn. Martha was a member of the United Methodist Church of Yucaipa in Yucaipa, Calif., and a current member of the Simpson United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. Over the years, Martha gave of her time to the United Methodist Church, to her family and to her friends. She loved to travel, was an avid puzzler and seamstress. Martha taught herself to quilt and during her lifetime she created beautiful hand sewn quilts for her children, and hand and machine sewn quilts for her grandchildren. She also loved to cross stitch. Martha is survived by her children, Larry (Barb) Hughes, Howard (Nina) Hughes, Carol (Stacy) Beavers, Jackie Gregory, and Thomas (Lorrinda) Gregory; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack G. Hughes, in 1961; second husband, Jack D. Gregory, in 2008; two brothers, Ralph Dyson and Richard Dyson; and one great-grandson, Jacob Hughes. A Celebration of Life service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2108, at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2501 S. Harrison St., Fort Wayne.
