Roland Van Johnson was a loving father, son and brother who was tragically taken from his family on April 16, 2019.

Roland Van Johnson was born on February 25, 1993 in Bakersfield, California to Roland Johnson and Sylvia Martinez. Roland grew up in Arvin, California and attended Sierra Vista Elementary then Haven Drive Middle School and graduated from Arvin High School. Roland worked at Grimmway Farms and was currently employed at Pure air. Roland was always in good spirits and an all around good guy. Roland leaves to cherish his memories: his son Angelo Johnson; his Father Roland Johnson; his mother Sylvia Martinez, two sisters Justine Johnson and Haley Johnson; and one brother Joseph Johnson. He also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died Tuesday at the 200 block of Meyer Street in Arvin.

Roland Van Johnson, 26, was shot at approximately 10:52 p.m., according to the coroner’s report, passing away at 11:06 p.m.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
