Jackie Lynne Hayes Mitchell was born on September 14, 1951, in Houston, Texas to Richard Leon and Juanita Faye Jarrell Hayes. She graduated from Pasadena, Texas High School in 1969. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1973. Jackie married Benny Ray Mitchell on August 3, 1974, in Pasadena. Mrs. Mitchell worked her entire career as an educator, having taught at Huffman I.S.D., Sanger I.S.D., and Elysian Fields I.S.D., from which she retired. She was of the Methodist faith and was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Elysian Fields where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Mitchell also volunteered for many years at Lakeview Methodist Church Camp near Palestine, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Leslie Mischelle.
