John Kamichitis (Kaminchaitis but it has several variants; his son, Joseph changed his surname to Kamie)

John was born in 1879 or 1880 in Lithuania to Andrew and Anna Kaminchaitis.

He arrived in America from Hamburg, Germany on the ship Columbia on 07 Apr 1901, according to his naturalization papers.

He married Magdalena MATUSEVICIUS around 1901 and they had 10 children together. The lived on Blair avenue (near his brother Joseph) in Scranton.

While some of the Kaminchaitis family stayed in Pennsylvania, John and his family moved to Detroit by 1930. Like others in the family, he was a miner.

Dear father of John, Mrs. Margaret Lohrman, Tom, Mrs. Mary Oleviri (Oliveri), Mrs. Catherine Viculis, Joseph, Mrs. Della Getz and the late George and Ann Karchnick, also leaves 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services Wednesday 8:30 am from Charles & Son Funeral Home, 7321 Puritan. Mass 9 am Divine Providence Church. Interment Mt. Olivet. Rosary 8 pm Tuesday

John was one of 6 children of Andrew Kaminchaitis and his wife, Anna. The other children were:

Mary Kamacaites Sherrock
Joseph Kaminchaitis
John Kamichitis

Anna Kaminchaitis Miller (Milisauskas/Milisauckas) - family stories say she went back to Lithuania and died there. I haven't found her past the 1930 U.S. census. (some trees say she died in 1995 in Scranton but haven't found proof)
