Anita Hart Davies Cline, 96, passed away on Thursday April 18, 2019 at her home in Birmingham, Alabama.

Anita was born on October 15, 1922 in Meridian, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Frank Wesley Davies Sr. (1896-1952) of Clifton Forge, Alleghany, Virginia and Anita Hart Davies (1900-1987) of Meridian, Mississippi.

She was baptized Anita Hart Davies at the Cathedral Church of the Advent on May 9th, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama by Rev. Charles Clingman. She was confirmed in The Episcopal Church on March 10th, 1940 at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham by C.C.J. Carpenter, Bishop of Alabama. She was a founding member of St Luke's Episcopal Church.

Paternal Grandparents: Arthur Beverly Davies Sr. (1870-1941) of Amherst County, Virginia and Addie Aurora Gillispie (1878-1970) of Virginia.

Maternal Grandparents: John Leroy Hart (1872-1958) of Mississippi and Meddie Cocke Hart (1876-1957) of Mississippi.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Dr. Wade Martin Cline (1915-2011). She met Dr Cline in the summer of 1941 at Camp DeSoto, Mentone, Alabama. They married on April 6th, 1942 in Jefferson County, Alabama.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Frank Wesley Davies, Jr. (1926-2014) and sister Amanda Jaqueline Davies Benes (1930-2008).

She is survived by her five sons, Wade Martin Cline, Jr (Cheryl) of Connersville, TN, Charles Davies Cline, Sr (Louise) of Nashville, TN, Wesley Robert Cline, Sr (Lynn) of Birmingham, John Hampton Cline, Sr (Shannon) of Spanish Fort, AL, James Thomas Cline, Sr (Leslie) of Birmingham. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren – Allison Wright (Chris), Stephanie Tillis (Ryan), Chad Cline (Courtenay), John Cline (Ansel), Wesley Cline (Courtney), Barbara Lindsey (Chris), Rebekah Richerson (Nick), Rachel Evans (Jason) Carly Cline, Hampton Cline, Wade Cline, Jim Cline, Will Cline, Sarah Cline, Graham Cline, Cami Cline; and thirteen great grandchildren. Also by her sister in law Miriam Davies and many nephews and nieces.

Mrs Cline grew up in Birmingham, attend elementary school above the Gilchrist Drug Store in Mnt Brook Village, and graduated from Phillips High School at age 16. She went on to attended Fair Fax Hall College and the University of Alabama. She was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Junior League of Birmingham, Linley Heflin Unit, Birmingham Country Club.

The joys of her life included knitting, playing bridge, travel, bible study and meeting with her prayer group of 50 years. Her greatest love was simply being with her family.

Visitation will begin at 10am, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in the sanctuary foyer. Funeral service will follow at 11am.
