Formerly of Nevada, Esther E. Aten died in the Wyandot Coounty Nursing Home at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 1992. She was 83 and had been ill for several years.
Born Oct. 22, 1908, in Nevada, she was a daughter of Franklin and Edith (Lee) Aten.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Charlotte) Gier, Columbus; and Mrs. Walter (Sarah) Wanner, Ephrata, Pa.; 11 nieces and nephews. A brother, Samuel; and a sister, Janet Kerr, are deceased.
Miss Aten graduated from Nevada High School in 1925 and from Wittenberg College, Springfield, in 1940. She was an elementary school teacher in the Nevada schools for 43 years. A life member of Nevada Lutheran Church, she was a member of Lutheran Church Women and Bethany Sunday School Class, and had been a Sunday school teacher. She was also a life member of National and Ohio Education associations, and was a member of Wyandot County Retired Teachers Association and a charter member of Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society. She was a 50-year member of Nevada Grange 771 and was a member of Nevada Current Events Club.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Nevada Chapel of Lucas Funeral Homes, the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Kappa Chapter scholarship fund or Nevada Lutheran Church.
