Gail Marie Mitchell, 76 of Springfield, Missouri, went Home to be with her LORD Jesus Christ early in the morning on April 11, 2019 in the Neuro Trauma ICU at Cox South in Springfield, Missouri. Gail was born in Springfield, Missouri on November 1, 1942 to her parents, John and Eula Ferguson.

Gail enjoyed being employed by the Springfield-Greene County Library District during her Central High School and Southwest Missouri State and Drury College years. Later Gail worked for Quinn Coffee Company, Frisco Railroad, and Greene County School for the Mentally Challenged as a substitute teacher. Gail eventually retired from the General Council of the Assemblies of God in 2010 after 31 years of faithful service. She was honored to be a part of Youth Ministries/Speed the Light assisting missionaries around the world and in the states with transportation and ministry equipment.

After retirement Gail became quite the historian; researching and writing books about Doling Park, as well as finding her roots in genealogy. Gail was the Vice President of the Ozarks Genealogical Society, Head of the Hospitality Committee and presented a number of programs on genealogy and the history of Doling Park. Gail was also involved in numerous book clubs. Gail loved to talk to her grandchildren and tell them about her travels and her relationship with Jesus.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eula Ferguson, and her brother John Wayne Ferguson. Gail is also survived by her two daughters, Paula Rachel Lamar and husband Brion, Heather Marie Lewis and her husband Randy, and five amazing, wonderful grandkids whom she dearly loved and cherished, Kaylee Marie and Kinadie Jean Jones, and Ethan Randall, Lillian Grace, and Emma Lee Lewis.

The family would like to express their profound appreciation, love, and thanks to the hundreds of family and friends who have been praying, texting and calling with their encouraging words throughout this difficult time.

A Memorial Service for Gail is scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Klingner Cope White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO. 65802, officiated by Pastor Tim Laffoon. In lieu of flowers, Gail has requested donations be made to Speed-The-Light:
