Andrew Leighton, Jr was lost on the Dash along with his brother, Joseph. The brig sailed out of Portland, Maine, in January, 1815, and was destroyed in a storm off the Georges Banks. The Dash, built and commanded by Freeport's Porter family, was legendary for her speed and boldness. Sixty young men of Casco Bay were lost with the ship.
