HAMPTON - Walter Lewis Crockett died at home in Hampton, Va., on Oct. 28, 2011. He was born on March 2, 1929, in Waterview, Va.
He served in the US Army for four years and was retired from Exxon-Mobil Corp. Lewis was a dedicated motorcycle rider, beginning at age 17 and took his last ride at age 82. He was a lifetime member of the Goldwing Road Riders Assoc.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katherine (Kitty); two sons, Daryl Crockett and wife, Julie, and Walter Crockett; two grandchildren, Jessica Davis-Lee and Luke Davis-Lee of Ashland, Va.; sister, Laura Sadler; brothers, Alvin Crockett, David Crockett and Morris Crockett, all of Mathews, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, by the Rev. Thomas Larson and the Rev. Reginald Frazier at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center at Fox Hill Road Baptist Church.
