He was retired from the U.S. Post Office, following 40 years of service. In addition, he was part owner of H.F. Martin Agency. He was a Marine who fought in World War II, Pacific Theater and was very proud of his contribution to help America remain free. He was a member of the Birmala Masonic Lodge 836, F & AM where he served as Worshipful Master from 1986 to 1987. He was a longtime member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church.
His loving wife, Helen Fields Martin, and his parents, Ernest and Grace Martin, preceded Millard in death. He is survived by a daughter, two sons, five grandchildren, brother, sister, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with funeral services to be held Wednesday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Chapel, Rev. Reid Crotty officiating. A Masonic service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Birmala Masonic Lodge 836.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Bluff Park United Methodist Church, 733 Valley Street, Hoover, Alabama 35226.
