Pamela Winnold Lamb, better known as Pixie to her family and friends, passed away peacefully June 3, 2007 on a beautiful Sunday morning surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Southbourne, Dorset, England May 14, 1920 to Frank and Molly Prentice. She had two brothers, Tony and Gerry; they all attended boarding school in Eastbourne, England. Pixie met the love of her life, John, while he was serving with the U.S. Army in England, preparing for the Normandy Invasion. At the end of the war they were married and returned to the U.S. and started a family. They raised four boys and one daughter: Russ, Tony, Roddy, Adam, and Debbie. They have six grandchildren: Piers, Buffalo, Meredith, Paris, Ryan, and Nicole, also four great-grandchildren, Faith, Harmony, Charlie and Bannon. She was dedicated to serve with John as a mother, hostess and diplomat. Her skills complemented John's, and the two were an equal match. Her energy and love of life made her a friend to many who adored her loving spirit. Her magnetic personality drew people to her at many functions that she hosted. Her natural linguistic skills and ability to communicate with many different people served her well, and the people around her during her lifetime. Aside from her work as a wife, her talents ranged from portrait artist, set designer, interior designer, seamstress, and pianist. She was a skilled equestrian and riding instructor. She boarded horses on their Lakewood property. She loved to keep busy and enjoyed other hobbies, such as knitting, crocheting, quilting, canning, crosswords, and story telling. She was a natural as a mother. She loved children, and raised them as free spirits. She taught her own and some neighbors' children how to cook and bake and raise a garden. Pixie will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be conducted at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA at 1pm June 13, 2007. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Heart Association in Pixie's name. Arrangements by Grand Departures, 253-538-5119.
