Barbara was al lifetime Sunday School teacher and taught many children in her years at Gaines Street/Olivet/Lifeway Baptist Church, Little Rock and Park Hill Baptist Church, North Little Rock. She taught elementary school in North Little Rock for twenty years. Always a teacher at heart, she continued to tutor children at various elementary schools until her recent illness.
Barbara was married to Irving E. "Gene" Herrington for seventy years. Together they were faithful members of the church and spent many Sunday afternoons at the local jail teaching and sharing their faith.
Barbara loved to refinish furniture. Saturday mornings ere often spent at garage sales looking for the perfect piece that she could transform into something beautiful. She especially loved round antique oak tables. Water aerobics was another love. She not only loved the exercise but the many friends she had there.
Survivors: daughters, Janet Brown (Bobby) of Perryville, AR and Kathy Gates of North Little Rock, AR; son, David E. Herrington (Vicki) of Fairfax, VA; sister, Betty Gilby of Fall Brooke, CA; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Park Hill Baptist Church at 10:45 A.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at Park Hill Baptist Church, N. Little Rock, AR.
