He was born on February 1, 1925 in Fayetteville, to Frank and Effie Lee (Elkins) Brooks.
He was a retiree of the U.S. Navy, serving for 31 years.
He retired from Arkansas Western Gas and Siloam Springs Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dixie (Stokenbury) Brooks; four sisters, Hazel Hinkle, Alice Ludwick, Leona Bowman, and Peggy Hoskins; and one brother, Clint Brooks.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Ward (and her husband, Lee) and Cyndee Church, both of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Colby Ward (and his wife, Krista) of Fayetteville, Trent Ward (and his wife. Mickie) of Fayetteville, and Davina Church of Lakewood, Washington; great-grandchildren, Caden, Carson, Emily, Ana, Tristan, and Madalyn; his sister, Sarah Etta Jones of Owasso, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held 5:00–7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
Burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens with military honors.
