She was the wife of Edward Challis, a bricklayer, and died at 99 Black Bull Road, Folkestone. Her first marriage was to William Warman Pegden in the June quarter of 1859 in Dover registration District. He died in 1868. In 1871 she was a widow and a laundress, living in North Street, Folkestone with four children, Mary Ann Pegden 11, John B Pegden 8, William Pegden 5 and Eliza Pegden 2. Also a niece, Jane Warman and Richard Punnett, his wife and daughter, lodging with her. She married Thomas Edward Challis on the 28 Sep 1878 in Hougham, Kent. In 1891 Eliza and Edward were living at 20 Park Street, Folkestone, she was a cook. There were two daughters from this marriage also there and her son, John Pegden. Also a brother, Henry Aldridge, a fisherman and 4 visitors.
