November 21—As the Sabbath waned and the shadows lengthened, it was known to the sorrowful watchers around the couch of the aged Mother Norris that death had set his seal upon her, and between the hours of six and seven o'clock on the evening of November 20, 1898, her spirit was released from it's earthy tenement and returned to the God who gave it. A noble woman has fallen, full of years and good works. Maiden name of deceased was Mary Adams. She was raised in Ohio. In her early life she became a Christian. In her young womanhood she was married to the late John W. Norris who died in 1891.

To them were born thirteen children; five sons and eight daughters, all of whom, we believe, survive her, except one son, who died at the age of l6 while the family resided in Indiana. They came to Iowa 35 years ago and settled on a farm in this township which was her home till 1892, when she went to Conesville. For several years she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Alexander McCurdy. She was a kind and obliging neighbor, a true friend, a faithful and loving wife and mother. The tender love and watchful care which she and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Julia Brown Norris, gave to Father Norris during all the long years-of-his-helpless invalidism won the admiration of all who knew them. She was a very quiet, industrious woman. She laid her hands to the, spindle and her hands held the (?). She had been in declining health for several years, but her death resulted from injuries sustained in a fall on the morning of November 9. The funeral is appointed to take place from the Reformed church at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning, the 22nd and the interment will he made in the village cemetery. Mother Norris was nearing the 80th milestone on life's way.
