Rebecca Bischoff Stevens, 96, was born in Lovell on November 7, 1910. She was the sixth child of Robert John Bischoff and Rose Ann Jensen.

They lived in a small house on Benchview Farm in the summer and in town in the winter across from what is now the fire hall until her father bought a pre-cut house to build. This is the brick house that still remains on Benchview Farm. Her mother died in 1918 of the Spanish flu, and her father shortly thereafter married Caroline Scholes.

She went to the Lovell schools, graduating in 1929. Later she attended two semesters at the Utah Agricultural College (now Utah State University), a semester at Eastern Montana State (not Montana State Billings), and also was able to take a biology class when Northwest College in Powell first began. She was able to teach two years in the Lovell Elementary School.

On May 29, 1934, she married Chester Stevens of Cowley in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah, and they were married for 56 years before Chester died. To this marriage came six children – Roberta, Stanley, Wesley, Julia, Stephen and Conalyn.

Rebecca loved the mountains and her flowers. She also loved to crochet, knit, embroider, quilt and needle-point. She made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also loved the Homemakers Clubs, and this group traveled to Biloxi, Miss. for a convention and she had a very enjoyable trip.

She was also involved in holding many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in the Primary, Mutual Improvement Association (ward and stake), Relief Society and Sunday School, and was a visiting teacher for many years. In 1974 she and her husband were called to serve a mission in the Texas San Antonio Mission, which they truly loved.

Rebecca spent nearly five years in the New Horizons Care Center before becoming ill and entering North Big Horn Hospital. After 13 days she died peacefully on May 23, 2007, and her interment was at the Lovell Cemetery on May 29, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Chester; brothers Raeburn, Kenneth and Royal; sisters Vida, Pearl, Gladys and half-sister Ruth; all her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law with the exception of Jala Stevens of Lovell; one son-in-law, Kenneth Stacy; and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Roberta Isom (Frank) of Idaho Falls, Stanley Bischoff Stevens (MyrLene) of West Valley City, Utah, Wesley Bischoff Stevens (Joan) of Ukiah, Calif., Julia Stacy of Billings, Stephen Robert Stevens (Linda) of St. George, Utah, and Conalyn Sanders (Elden) of Byron; 33 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
