Janet Lou Parks Hammond, 75, of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Heartland of Jackson after an extended illness.
Janet was born on July 24, 1943, in Jackson County, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Dever) Parks. She worked as a school teacher for over 30 years, teaching elementary music, reading, spelling, and English, primarily in the Oak Hill Union Local School District. She was a lifetime member of Hamilton Christian Church in Oak Hill, Ohio, where she served for many years as a piano player, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer of the Hamilton Cemetery Association.
She is survived by one daughter, Holly (Brett) Jordan of Yellow Springs, Ohio, as well as a sister, Margaret (Edward) Lawrence, and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, whom she married on July 4, 1964, as well as her father and mother.
The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date under the care of Lewis & Gillum Funeral Homes of Jackson. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Oaks United, Inc., PO Box 152, Oak Hill, Ohio, 45656, or via PayPal to the email address [email protected].
