Mindy Eloise Poland, 19, of Noble, died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind. as the result of a brain tumor.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Romine officiating. Burial will be in Hanna Cemetery in rural Noble.
Miss Poland was born August 4, 1987, the daughter of Kevin Poland and Gina (McDaniel) Morgan.
She worked at Ty's Family Buffet in Olney and attended Olney Church of the Nazarene. She was a 2005 graduate of West Richland High School, where she was an Alpha Peer Leader and a member of Who's Who. She was a student at Olney Central College, where she was a member of the band, Phi Theta Kappa, Radiology Club and was a member of the U.S. Martial Arts Team and Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
Miss Poland is survived by her father, Kevin Poland, of Olney; mother and stepfather, Gina and Pat Morgan, of Noble; sister, Melinda Morgan, of Noble; fiancé, David Cowger, of Olney; maternal grandmother, Shirley McDaniel, of West Frankfort; maternal step-grandmother, Addie Morgan, and step-grandfather, Norman Bower, of Olney; paternal grandfather, Lonnie Poland, and step-grandmother, Kathy, of Olney; paternal step-grandfather, Larry Dressback, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; paternal step-great-grandparents, Winfred "Wendi" and Betty Dressback, of Effingham; and several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gene McDaniel, and grandmother, Connie Dressback.
Memorials may be made to the Mindy E. Poland Memorial Fund.
