Earl Clarence Ward, 77, of Valdese, passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 22, 2019 at his residence with his wife by his side.
Mr. Ward was born January 13, 1942 in Burke County, a son of the late Leona Spann Ward. Earl retired from the Town of Valdese with over 18 years of service as a fulltime Fireman and auxiliary Policeman. He was a member of Zion Road Baptist Church, a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend to many.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by two brothers Junior Ward, Cecil Ward, a sister Mary Poteat, and two sisters-in-law Joyce Ward and Jean Richards.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Blenda Richards Ward of the home, a son Wesley Ward and wife Crystal of Valdese, and the apple of his eye, grandson, Matthew Ward. Also surviving are a brother Larry Ward of Newton, a sister, Barbara Huffman & husband Dennis of Morganton, a sister-in-law, Kathy Ward of Connelly Springs, and two brothers-in-law, James Richards and special friend, Connie Cline of Valdese and Wayne Poteat of Morganton.
Funeral Services for Earl C. Ward will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday March 25, 2019 at Zion Road Baptist Church, with Rev. Micah Piercy officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Sunday March 24, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
Memorials may be made in memory of Earl C. Ward to the Fellowship Hall fund of Zion Road Baptist Church, 2328 Zion Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
