Mona Jean (Sova) Smith, of Howell, Michigan, passed away at her home on January 18, 2019 at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 22, 1951 in Cheboygan, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Johnel and Jean Sova. Mona attended Cheboygan Catholic Schools, and graduated high school in 1969. Prior to retirement she was employed at Battery Solutions in Brighton, Michigan. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Smith, a loving mother of Chad Jewell and his wife Kati Jewell, Stacey Rosen, Will Smith and his wife Pam Smith. She was a proud grandmother to Bryce Rosen, Olivia Jewell, Lillian and Lennon Smith. She was a loving sister and survived by Paul (Shirley) Sova, Rodney (Claudia) Sova, Michael Sova, Christopher (Mary) Sova, Johnel (Christine) Sova, Jan (Ken) Andrews and Mary Jo (Jeff) Hedquist. Also, surviving sister–in-law Susan McGeorge, many nieces and nephews who loved their "Aunt Mona." She was predeceased by her parents, sister Judy Sova Warner and brother Kim Sova. She was the most loving, supportive mother, daughter, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. Mona will be greatly missed by all. A private gathering and celebration of Mona's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mona's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
