He was born the son of Joseph and Laura (LaForest) Baker.

He is survived by his wife, the former Delphine Goodman; two sons, Ronald J (Lillian) Baker and Lawrence (Carol) Baker Sr.; two daughters, Joyce (Richard) Hinds and Carol (Leonard) Bulriss; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Wilfred Baker, Merriel Baker and Margaret Baker, all of Plattsburgh and Loyl (Pauline) Baker of Chazy; two sisters, Lena Baker and Florence Rougier, both of Plattsburgh; 14 grandchildren; 13 g-grandchildren; two g-g-grandchildren.

Eleven brothers and sisters died before him.
