He was born in Sciota, the son of Joseph and Laura (Laforest) Baker.
Mr. Baker served in the US Army in the Philippine Islands during WWII. He worked at Champlain College in Plattsburgh before going to Rochester to work for Bausch and Lomb. He returned to the North Country and owned/operated a TV repair shop in Sciota. Most recently, he worked for SUNY Plattsburgh, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret (St. Louis) Chauvin; four daughters, Mrs. Susan (Michael) Bulriss, Mrs. (Warren) Margaret Schromm, Ann Chauvin and Mrs. (Thomas) Donna Caramia; five brothers, Henry, Harold and Wilfred of Plattsburgh, Dorsey of Sciota, and Loyal of Chazy; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Baker and Mrs. Florence Roushia both of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.
