Larry Nichols, age 86 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, August 29, 2021, at his home in the Whitlock community of Henry County.

Larry graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1954 and was a starting member of the basketball team for multiple years.

He worked for the Henry County Highway Department for 40 years as a road grader operator, retiring at the age of 75. He was a member and deacon of Central Point Baptist Church in Paris. Larry never met a stranger. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, dance, and drive around in his UT Jeep for which he was well known.

Larry was born December 26, 1934, in Cottage Grove, TN, the oldest of three children to the late Freeman and Pauline Gatewood Nichols.

He was married January 29, 1960, to Sue Carol Gaulding Nichols, who survives, of Paris.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Denay Nichols (David) Kibbler of Puryear, TN; one sister, Kay Lampkins; three grandchildren, Jared (Brittany) Kibbler, Jaden (Makiela Webb) Kibbler, and Jack Kibbler; one great grandson, Kieran Austin Kibbler; one brother-in-law, Glenn Jackson of Paris; and his beloved cat, Misty.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Caryl Nichols; one sister, Sherry Crawford; and one brother-in-law, Frank Gaulding.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 31, 2021, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Fred Lowrance and Bobby Campbell officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Kibbler, Jaden Kibbler, Jack Kibbler, Andy Jackson, Kenny Perales, Kenny Nance, Mitch Sykes, and Tracy Gaulding.

Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Tennessee Quality Hospice, 207 B Highway 641 N, Camden, TN 38320.
