Elizabeth “Lizzy” Hesse was born October 13, 1876 in the hamlet of Bethel in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County. Elizabeth was married at age 24, on April 23, 1901 to John Junker (pronounced Yunker) age 26 of East Zorra Township (013721). They were married in Trinity Lutheran Church in Sebastopol, by Rev. Veit. Witnesses to the marriage were Andreas Heinbach and Catherine Junker, both of East Zorra. Prior to the marriage, Lizzy had been living with her parents in East Zorra. John was born January 28, 1875. John and Lizzy were farmers on the 18th line of East Zorra Township. The 1921 East Zorra Census shows John and Lizzie along with their large family farming. John and Lizzie moved to Jacob St. in New Hamburg. John died in 1956 and was buried in Sec. C Lot 3-4 of Riverside Cemetery, in New Hamburg, Ontario. Lizzy died November 9, 1961 and was buried with John.
