KNUST
Kermit H. Knust, son of Gustav and Clara Knust, was born May 7, 1921 at Lacona, Iowa. He departed this life at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient, February 1, 1983 at the age of 61.
He had been engaged in farming in Lucas County for 33 years and presently employed at Johnson Machine Works.
Kermit was baptized in infancy and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Lacona. He was a current member of the First Lutheran Church in Chariton.
Kermit was united in marriage to Leora Goering on December 20, 1940. Four children were born to this union.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marie.
His survivors are his wife, Leora, son Larry and wife Bonnie, daughter Linda Pennington and husband Richard, and son Chris, all of Russell, and daughter Karen Hopson and husband Mike of Grinnell.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Byron Pennington and Kim and Kevin Knust, all of Russell. His sister Laura Chamberlain of Melcher and three brothers, Arthur and Lester of Indianola and Norbert of Des Moines, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 3, 1983 at the Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton. The service was conducted by Pastor J. Max Davis. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
