Elias Babcock was a soldier of the Revolution, serving in Capt. Nathan Watkins' company, Col. Samuel Brewer's Regt. in 1777 and again in Capt. A. Williams' company, Col. Sprout's Regt. May 1777 - May 1780. He received a pension under the Act of 1818. His widow also received a pension. He was one of several area men who also served in the War of 1812, volunteering to go to Plattsburgh, NY in Sept. 1814, serving 8 days. (Revolutionary War Soldier sBuried in Franklin County, Vermont compiled by W. R. Branthoover, 1979. Produced in Cooperation with the Georgia Historical Society and the Vermont Historical Society, Sept 1982)
