Daughter of Elias Babcock and Huldah Kinney of West Berkshire, VT. Her father, Elias, enlisted May 19th, 1777 to 1780 from Partridgefield and Northampton, MA. Elias was in the Battle of Saratoga, and served through the Carolinas with Gen. Gates's army. He was also at the surrender of Cornwallis, and was in a number of severe battles which occurred during this war. Electa was married at Swanton, VT to John Capron. They came to Ohio in 1829. Her husband John had the gold fever in 1849 and left for California from Kingsville March 20, 1849. Her father-in-law, Abijah, immigrated to Ashtabula in 1817.
