LINTON – Norman "Jack" Watson, 78, of Linton, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Linton, on Jan. 28, 1929, he was the son of William Watson and Ina Mae Chipman. He married Norma N. Brookshire on Jan. 10, 1959.

Jack was a Korean War veteran. He worked for the City of Linton Police Department for 38 years and was the Chief of Police for 18 of those years. Jack also served on the Greene County Council. He retired in 2001. Jack was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Linton Masonic Lodge 560 Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, BPO Elks 866, American Legion Post 22, VFW Post 7118, and the Fraternal Order of Police 105, and an honorary member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association.

Survivors include his wife, Norma N. Watson; one son, Mike and wife Susie Goodman of Brazil; three grandchildren, Jeff and wife Ashley Goodman, Justin and Zachary Goodman; and one great-grandson, Michael D. Goodman; one brother, Gene and wife Bernadine Chipman of Salem, Ore.; niece, Rachelle and husband Doug Smother of Salem, Ore.; nephew, Jeff and wife Tylee Chipman of Salem, Ore. and other extended family members. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Ann Sons.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4 to 8 p.m. today. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel on Friday at 11 a.m., with Bishop Joe Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons, with full Graveside Military rites being conducted.
