Joy, Lois, their husbands and families remained a tightly knit small group. Although a geographical distance between them, their families grew up together and remain close. It was her little clan. She always loved seeing the family from Spokane.
When the kids were younger, there were many outings to water of some sort. These outings always included plenty of family and friends. Whether it be the river, the beach, or just in the backyard by the pool, Joy’s love of being out in the sun and she and George always made sure everyone was having a good time, which was quickly learned by all 4 of her children. Still today, each one of them and their families enjoy that time outside and enjoying life to the fullest. So many memories of those times.
After moving to Orland, Joy became quite the horse women. She loved her Morgan horses, and spending time with the horse and buggy she and George had. She enjoyed the ranch and her copious flowers of all types. No matter the time of year, there were always beautiful flowers at the ranch. She always loved spending time in the kitchen baking or canning, there was always something going on.
After the passing of George, she sold the ranch and moved into town. Quite the adjustment from living on 40 acres to living back in town. She did her best to adjust. She befriended some ladies in the neighborhood, and they enjoyed evenings out for dinner whenever they could.
She slowed a bit over the years, but always had her stubborn spunk even to the end. A long-life well lived and enjoyed by this woman, some call mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. Her children, grand-children, extended family and friends are scattered throughout the globe. A testament to Joy enjoying life and teaching others to take advantage of the opportunities life gives you, to live life to the fullest.
Now comes time for our final earthly good-bye. From your friends, extended family, and your 4 beautiful children we say, “Good-bye for now. We love you and we’ll see you again. Until that time, we will have constant earthly reminders of you. We’ll have you in our hearts wherever we go. We’ll have everlasting lessons you taught us and memories whenever we’re by the water. We’ll always have your stubbornness, and we’ll see you in silly things we do. We know you’re back with the love of your life, safe in God’s hands, and you’re your eternal body now. You’ve taught us well, we love you, and rest assured, we’re all going to be fine.”
