Walter Hamilton Cavett (son of James Richard Cavett and Nancy Louise Connor) was born 12 March 1850 in Noxubee County, MS. He was the brother of Emma Caroline Cavett, who married Hamilton Algernon Binion. He married first Belle Lizzie Stevens (born 9 Nov 1852 in Noxubee County, MS; died 5 March 1881 in Noxubee County; daughter of Joshua Stevens and Ann Eliza Nelson), with whom he had three children (John Cavett, Joshua Stevens Cavett, and Emmett Cavett), and second, on 19 October 1884, Lilly May McLeod, in Macon, Noxubee, MS. He died on 23 June 1887 in X-Prairie, Noxubee County, MS. Funeral services were at Cumberland Presbyterian. His will is dated 22 June 1887 and was submitted for probate on 17 September 1887.
