Mr. Stanley C. Harkleroad, 88, died Tuesday night (June 5, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center (Waycross, Ware County) after an extended illness.

He was a native of Coffee County, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross. He retired from CSX Railroad in the Mechanic Roadway Department. He served in the United States Marine Corp. during World War II. He was also a member of Gilchrist Park United Methodist Church and the Okefenokee Holiness Campground Board.

He is the son of the late Conley Harkleroad and Ella Offield Harkleroad. He is also preceded in death by a loving stepmother, Jarvie Harkleroad.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Inell Graham Harkleroad of Waycross; four sons, Robert Harkleroad (wife Beverly) of Pensacola, FL, Earl Harkleroad (wife Brenda) of Ocean Springs, MS, Irie Harkleroad (wife Donna) of Waycross and Cotch Harkleroad (wife Mary Kay) of Augusta; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Joann Burkett of West Green; a brother, Fernell Harkleroad (wife Delaine) of West Green; two sister-in-laws, Stella Harkleroad of Broxton, and Ella Harkleroad of West Green; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday (June 8, 2007) at Gilchrist Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Dead River Cemetery in Montgomery County. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.

The Men of Gilchrist Park U.M.C., Okefenokee Holiness Campground Board and the Hatcher Point Mall walkers are asked to meet 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church to serve as honorary pallbearers.
