THE ODEBOLT CHRONICLE - Thu, Aug 25, 1898 - Early News: When at the soldiers picnic Wednesday we met an old comrade, a man with whom we ate beans in the '60s but whom we had not met since being mustered out in 1865. He lives at Grant City. I.W. Deemer was then a young man and the writer was a boy. Now comrade Deemer's hair and beard are white as snow. The meeting was a pleasant one.
