Lee was born March 28, 1916 in Rogers County, Oklahoma to Joel and Irene (Epps) Peters. He was baptized on February 10, 1923 at Bartlesville Lutheran Church in Claremore, Oklahoma and was raised in Rogers County, Oklahoma. Lee was confirmed (confessed) his faith publicly at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chelsea, Oklahoma. His confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10. Lee met and married Annette Tammen November 14, 1937 in Broken Arrow. The couple lived in Broken Arrow ever since. For many years they attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. In 1983 they joined Trinity Lutheran Church of Broken Arrow. Lee liked to tell road safety stories, play pinochle, fish and enjoy gardening and animals. He treated his neighbors like family.
Lee is survived by: Son Wally Peters of Oklahoma City; Daughter Sally Hammert of Wyoming; Sister Goldie Logan of Idaho; Brothers Jonathan Peters of Oklahoma, Herman Peters of Kansas, Paul Peters of Texas, and Wayne Peters of Texas; Nine Grandchildren; Fifteen Great Grandchildren; Two Great-Great Grandchildren; Numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: Parents, wife, daughters Polly Fox and Roaslee Peters, Grandson Onis Hewitt and five brothers.
