Virginia L. Switaj, 94, formerly of 228 W. Everett St., Falconer and 217 Niagara Ave., Jamestown passed away Wednesday (Dec. 30, 2015) in Lutheran Home and Rehab Center.
She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Coleman County, Texas, the daughter of the late Cincinattus Lee and Ora Lee McClure Williams Sr.
Virginia was a graduate of Howard Payne University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In earlier years, she was employed by the former Gold Star Market and prior to retirement was employed by Key Bank Corporation for 23 years, retiring in 1985.
Virginia was a life member of the Henry Mosher Post 638, Ameri-can Legion Auxiliary, TOPS Club and Town of Poland Senior Citizens. She enjoyed embroidering, traveling, visiting grandchildren, family and friends and reading romance novels.
Surviving are a son, Steven A. Switaj of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren: Thomas Switaj of Niagara Falls, Timothy (Jennifer) Switaj of Jamestown, Tammy (Herb) Beaman of Cassadaga, Stephanie (Donald) McCoole of Las Vegas and Diana L. Switaj of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven great-grandchildren: Alexander D. McCoole, Jordan K. McCoole, Travis Switaj, Valerie Switaj, Natalie Switaj, Tyler Beaman and Nickala Beaman; a brother, Cincinattus L. Wil-liam Jr. of Beaumont, Texas; and a sister, Fay Fellows of Beaumont, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Switaj whom she married Jan. 25, 1945, in Texas, who died Sept. 6, 1980; a son, Thomas L. Switaj on Dec. 22, 2012; and two sisters: Winona Miles and Vivian Williams.
