CENTERVILLE - Clark E. Simmons, 80, passed away February 27, 2019, at his home following an extended battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) surrounded by family.

Clark was born on February 3, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, the son of John E. Simmons and Dorothy G. Ebert. John and Dorothy shared two sons Clark and Stuart, who were raised by their mother and stepfather, Chester H. Marriott. Dorothy and Chester had three additional children, Kent (Sarah) Marriott, Bruce (Sidna) Marriott, and Kathy (Joe) Smith.

Clark married Beverly Rogers, March 6, 1959, in Plain City and later moved to Centerville where he has been a longtime resident.

During Clark’s professional career he worked for several construction companies such as; Parson’s, and Gibbons and Reed before retiring as a General Superintendent for Staker’s. During his career he managed several road crews; completing numerous roadways and highways in Utah, Arizona and Wyoming. Along with construction he had a passion for yardwork and woodwork. As a skilled craftsman he built and restored furniture, created X-ray tables for hospital use, and enjoyed designing shelves, and crafts.

No doubt those who knew Clark knew he was a kid at heart. He loved to pull pranks, joke, and tease his family and friends. It was often difficult to know when he was serious. He had a heart of gold and jumped without hesitation to help at every opportunity.

As a member of the LDS Church, he enjoyed home teaching and working with the Boy Scouts, while visiting ward members and neighbors.

Surviving is his wife Beverly and their six children, Duane (Laurie Green) Simmons, Jana (Ron) VanderWerff, Cindy Tinsley, Julie (Mike) Stoof, Tom Simmons and Gary (Shanna) Simmons. Along with six children there are 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Clark is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Stuart A. Simmons, Sr. and Ronald J. Bowman) and one nephew (Daniel P. Simmons).

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to the COPD Foundation https://www.copdfoundation.org/.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main, Farmington. Friends may visit with family, Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Plain City Cemetery.
