"Death of Omer Huff
Death came very suddenly last Thursday morning to Omer Huff, who for a few months past, with wife, has been stopping with their son-in-law, George W. Hollinger, residing near the Silver Creek Church. The day before his death Mr. Huff had assisted his son-in-law chop wood in the timber [sic] and on returning seemingly was in his usual health. In the morning, Mrs. Huff who arose first, had conversed with him and he did not complain of feeling ill. Half an hour later on going to the bedroom his wife found him breathing heavily and unconscious and before medical aid could arrive Mr. Huff expired, it is presumed through an attack of apoplexy.
The deceased was born May 25, 1852, near Wawaka, [Noble County,] Ind., and died February 15, 1912, aged 59 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Huff, February 22 [sic-26], 1902, who, with [his] ten stepchildren, survive[s]; also two brothers and three sisters are left to mourn his death. Mr. Huff was a man of kindly temperament and greatly beloved by his family and all who knew him. For a number of years the family home has been at Dixon.
Funeral services conducted by Elder E. P. Trostle were held at the Silver Creek Brethren Church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock."
