Mr. Kocot was a foreman at Schalz Bearing Corp., Poughkeepsie, a ball bearing manufacturing plant. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of the American Legion Lafayette Post #37. He also was a member of the Schatz bowling league and won numerous bowling awards. He was an avid golfer who hit a hole-in-one at the Vassar College golf course in 1989. Mr. Kocot was a veteran of World War II. He served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Poughkeepsie.
Born March 5, 1916, in Northampton, MA, he was the son of Ignatius Kocot and Mary Kowalczyk. He married Bernice C. "Bert" Swierczek at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Poughkeepsie. She survives at home.
Survivors include a son, Richard Kocot, Pleasant Valley, two sisters, Mary Steliga, Saratoga, CA, Winifred Klay, San Diego, CA; two grand-daughters, Elizabeth Ruyack, Yorktown Heights, Dawn Grittlow, Lake Park, FL; two great-grandsons, Raymond Ruyack, Christopher Ruyack, Yorktown Heights; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Stanley Kocot, and a sister, Anna Skypeck, died previously.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home Inc., 59 Montgomery St., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at St. Joseph's Church, Lafayette Place, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
