JANET"JAN" LOUISE BALDWIN EVANS went home to the Lord on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Her passing is a celebration of an earthly life fulfilled and a heavenly life to begin.

Jan is survived by her loving niece, Kathy Barber and her husband, Paul and their children, Meredith, Jack, Ellie and Christopher Barber. She is also survived by her son by choice, not by blood, C. James Williams III aka "Jim" and his wife, Kristina Walters and their children, Alexa Brown (David) and Chase, Maddie, Mac and Patrick Williams of Midlothian, Virginia; as well as Suzanne Garner (Gary) and their children, Gloria and Tommie. Also surviving is fiance and best friend, Charles J. Williams Jr. aka "Bubba." She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews on the Evans side of the family.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, John "Jack" Edward and Ella Holmes Baldwin; a sister, Suzanne Baldwin Kesler aka "Susie"; and niece, Elizabeth Kesler Williams aka "Beth."

Janet was born in Frostburg, Maryland, in 1936 and lived in Piedmont, West Virginia during her toddler years. Her family moved to Front Royal, Virginia in 1940, where she attended elementary school and graduated from Warren County High School in 1955. She graduated from Madison College in 1959 with a B.S. in education, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and served as Pan-Hellenic Chairman her senior year. She also had a master's degree in education from Virginia State University.

Following graduation, Janet moved to Henrico County, Virginia, where she taught special education, elementary grades and Title I. She later became an assistant principal. Retiring after 31 years in education, Janet went on to enjoy her "golden years" to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, church activities, bowling, bridge and most of all, being with family and friends. Her friends and family often teased her for always having a camera in hand for her passion of memorializing events that involved the people she loved, especially on social media.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mark's Methodist Church, 11551 Lucks Lane, Midlothian, Virginia 23114, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Mark's Church or the Richmond Animal League.
