Born in Blakely, son of the late Joseph and Julia Potfora Baron, he was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, where he was a Holy Name Society member, a former parish bingo worker and a 30-year member of the Ushers Society. He was educated in Blakely schools and attended Johnson Technical Institute. Before retirement, he was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot as an electronics mechanic.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of American Legion Post 665 and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11 and a member and post commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5937, all in Dickson City.
He was a loving and good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of the Ushers Society at St. Mary's Church. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
Also surviving are a son, Joseph A; a daughter, Doreen Scott; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis and Michael Baran; four sisters, Mary Williams, Josephine Keller, Frances Wallinger, and Teresa Bookin; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Barilka.
The funeral will be from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc, Dickson City, with Mass in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Dickson City.
