Frank Lansky Memphis, TN Frank Lansky passed away on December 15, 2018 at the age of 93. Frank was born in Memphis on December 11, 1925. He is survived by his two sons, Gregg and Daryl Lansky , his two daughters-in-law, Sheilah and Ginny, and his two grandchildren, Hannah and Elliott. Frank was the son of Samuel Lewis Lansky and Anna Sara Lansky . Frank was the fifth child in a family of nine children; he is survived by his sister Bernice. His other brothers and sisters were Jack, Mildred, Guy, Irvin, Bernard, Alvin, and Ann. He is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews and many more grand nieces and nephews. Frank grew up on Kansas Street. He graduated from Southside High School and then enlisted in the Air Force in 1944. Frank 's father started several of his boys in business, including Frank , but Frank decided that he wanted to go to college. After he was discharged from the Air Force at the end of World War II, he went on to study architecture at the University of Kansas through the GI Bill. After receiving his degree in architecture, Frank moved back to Memphis and went to work with the Aydelot architecture firm. He eventually set up his own firm on Second Street above the Lansky Brothers store. He remained in the architecture business until he retired as an architect with Belz Investment Co. After retirement, Frank kept very busy. He worked with Daryl in the real-estate development and construction business until his mid-80s. He was also a fan of the University of Memphis basketball and football teams as well as the Memphis Grizzlies, where he held season tickets for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved to attend the St Jude golf tournaments. He attended the tournaments until he was 90, when he followed his favorite golfer Phil Mickelson for 18 holes in the 90+ degree heat. Afterward Phil recognized Frank by giving him a treasured autograph. Frank was a member of both the Baron Hirsch and Anshei Sphard-Beth El synagogue congregations where he was an active member and always available to make a minyan. He was a member of the Architecture Institute of America where he served as an officer in the local chapter. He was licensed to practice architecture in many states. Frank was a friend to all and leaves many friends at Belmont Village and at the Memphis Jewish Home. He was a wonderful grandfather and father. We will miss him dearly. The funeral services for Frank were held at the Sam Abraham Chapel in the Baron Hirsch Cemetery on December 17.
