Mr. Barnes was a truck driver and of the Christian faith. He enjoyed time spent tinkering and working on cars and trucks. He was an avid outdoorsman; hunting and fishing whenever he had the opportunity. Gary loved quality time with his family, and was always on the lookout for a way to make them laugh. He will forever be remembered for his eternal smile and contagious laugh.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Aileen Barnes; a son, Gary David Barnes, Jr.; a brother, Bill Barnes; two nieces, Nora Barnes and Angela Carey; and a nephew, William Barnes.
He is survived by a daughter, Katrinna Barnes-Matthews and fiancé, Billy Rice, of DeWitt; a special family friend, Jonathan Clayton of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Gary David Barnes, III, Natallie Allana Barnes, and Lani Jane Matthews; three brothers, Roy Barnes, Jr. and wife, Mary; Fred Barnes; and Bobbie Barnes and wife, Dee; three sisters, Barbara Sajtos, JoAnn Wortmann, and Carolyn Summerlin; twenty five nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019. Graveside services will follow in Halk Cemetery.
