Daughter of the late Roy and Lucille (Watkins) Rice, she was a 1958 graduate of Pleasureville High School. Anna Sue retired as an accountant with the Kentucky Department of Parks and was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she served many years as song leader. She loved being in and supporting the Bethlehem community's annual Living Nativity, and up until recent years, enjoyed working behind the scenes casting and helping with the nightly costume changes at the church. Anna Sue loved to laugh and found joy in everyday living. Family get-togethers, fishing with her grandchildren, potluck dinners, prayer meetings, breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, cheering on the UK Wildcats and a hand – or two – of Rook were some of her favorites. She knew the birth dates of friends and family members by heart, and it gave her great pleasure to be the "first" person of the day to call someone to sing the "Happy Birthday" song. If you ever received a birthday call from Anna Sue before 6 a.m. in the morning, consider yourself special!
Anna Sue was preceded in death by her first husband, Lanny F. Roberts, and her second husband, Chester B. Hudson.
