Robert Earl Anders, 67, Custer County resident and former Fire Chief in Weatherford passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 in Clinton. He was born September 11, 1951 in San Augustine, Texas to Aubrey and Billie (Wade) Anders, and

Robert was raised in Texas until moving to Clinton during his sophomore year and graduated Clinton High School in 1970.

Robert began his career as a volunteer fire fighter for the Bessie Fire Department; he later joined the Weatherford Fire Department in 1981and after 25 years of service he retired as Chief of the Fire Department in 2006.

Robert was a member of the Herald Mennonite Church, the Custer City Masonic Lodge, and the Oklahoma Fire Fighters Association. He enjoyed hunting, gun smithing, woodworking and doing stain glass work.

He is preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by two daughters Kathy Atchley and husband Bryan of Clinton, Tracy Anders of Albuquerque, New Mexico, son Toby Anders and wife Amada of Clinton, his mother Billie Anders of San Augustine, Texas, two brothers Wade Anders and wife Lisa of Clinton, Danny Anders and wife Necy of Pollok, Texas, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Herald Mennonite Church in Bessie officiated by Kevin Creed and Doyle Kinney. Burial will follow in the Herald Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
