Abilene - Audra Schindler, 83, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007, at a local medical center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Pastor Tom Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Larry Burnside, Terry Burnside, Alex Burnside, Andre Burnside, Alan Burnside, and J. D. Matlock. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Audra was born December 28, 1923 to Bertie Ann {Sanders} and George Washington Alexander in Weinert, Texas. She moved from Weinert to Abilene in 1942. Audra married Robert "Bob" Schindler on September 19, 1974 in Baird, Texas. She was a homemaker, a loving and caring mother, and loved her church family. Audra was a member of Southside Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband {April 30, 2002}; and brothers, Herschel Alexander and George Alexander.

Survivors include a son, Throya "Dusty" Green and wife, Gloria, of Abilene; a daughter, Margarett Carmichael and husband, Jim, of Brenham, Texas; three brothers, Thomas Alexander and wife, Sue, of San Antonio, Texas, J. C. Alexander and wife, Peggy, of Eugene, Oregon, and Roy Alexander and wife, Murl, of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Faye Crawford and husband, Jerry, of San Antonio, and Evelyn Ellington of Muleshoe, Texas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P. O. Box 1922, Abilene, Texas 79604.
