James "Jimmy" William Whitson, 74, of Somerset, born on November 8, 1945 in Somerset, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Cumberland Nursing & Rehab after a lengthy illness.
Jimmy was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Baptist faith, an exceptional mechanic, and loved music and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis "Cat" and Elva Lee Whitson; one rainbow infant, four sisters, Ethel Bradley, Tempie Stogsdill, Mildred Stogsdill and Alta Sears; he was also preceded in death by several brothers-in-law, including, Jewell and Jambes Bradley whom were special to him.
He is survived by a daughter, Anna Whitson Vaughan and her husband, Jeffrey Vaughan, four grandchildren, Kevin Smiley, Brendan Vaughan, Faith Ann Ball, and Riley Vaughan; a brother, Albert Whitson and family; a sister, Hannah Bradley and family; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Jimmy will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. James Whitson will be after 6 PM Monday, March 4, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
