CHRISTIAN AMMANN DIED IN HIS SLEEP
Well Known Riverhead Man Was in Usual Health When He Retired Saturday Night - Had Resided Here for Nearly 50 Years

The sudden death of Christian Ammann last Saturday night removed another of Riverhead's well known and respected residents. Mr Ammann was in his usual health when he retired about 9:30. Shortly after Mrs Ammann retired she noticed her husband was restless, and she spoke to him but he did not answer. Heart trouble was the cause of death. Mr Ammann had been a resident of Riverhead for nearly 50 years and for a long period he conducted a meat market. He was a fine citizen in every respect and was held in the highest esteem by his many friends, who were shocked and saddened by the news of his sudden death.

Mr Ammann became a member of Roanoke Lodge I O O F shortly after it was instituted. He was also a member of Riverhead Lodge F & A M, Riverhead Council, Royal Armanum, and Yennicott Tribe, Red Men, being a charter member of the last named organization. He is survived by his wife, two sons, M N Ammann and G A Ammann and a daughter Miss Irma Ammann.

Funeral services were conducted at the Ammann residence on Maple avenue Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Rev Willis B Holcombe, pastor of Grace Episcopal church, officiating, and the interment was in the Riverhead cemetery. Roanoke Lodge had charge of the services at the grave.
